Mr. Michael Ketover is a musician, an advocate for human rights and international peace, and a past attorney who has supported governments and international organizations across the globe. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Amherst College and his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School. Ketover has worked in numerous organizations in many countries, from Latin America to Europe.
In 1990, Ketover left his corporate job in Miami to volunteer at AmeriCorps in Service to America (VISTA), a nonprofit organization working to end poverty in communities across the country. Specifically, at Vista, Ketover volunteered in Coolidge Arizona, working with teenagers to build a strong community. After a year of work at the nonprofit, he worked as an attorney in Florida, representing children in juvenile courts.
In 1993, Ketover began his long partnership and work with the Peace Corps, an international organization run by volunteers to help over sixty countries on “locally prioritized projects, building relationships, exchanging cultures and knowledge, and helping transform lives for generations.” Ketover was first assigned to the Peace Corps in Honduras, living in a small community where he helped to plant corn and beans, as the soil was degrading and hoped to improve the access to clean and healthy food. He also spent time in Guyana assisting the Peace Corps and promoting children's rights and working on projects within UNICEF.
In 1998, Ketover applied to be a part of the Crisis Corps, after a severely destructive hurricane season. He was assigned to the Dominican Republic where he helped the local World Food Program. In 2018, Ketover was assigned as the Country Director for the Peace Corps in Ukraine. The goal of the Ukrainian Peace Corp is to provide education, assist youth, and help in emergency AIDS relief. He led over 400 volunteers and spent his time in leadership working around the COVID-19 pandemic and the beginning of a war between Ukraine and Russia in 2022.
In 2015, Ketover started a 70’s music group called Love Over Anger Music. As a project working to promote peace, all of the profits made off of streams and merchandise are allocated to Ukrainian organizations.
Currently, Ketover lives with his family in Hollywood, Florida, and has returned to AmeriCorps, working as the Performance Director. His experience volunteering and working in several countries and UN organizations to benefit the youth and broader communities is an intriguing and amazing story. Ketover has spent his life working to serve, protect, and benefit communities, no matter how small or large.
